HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY JO LEE!!

HAPPY 5 BIRTHDAY JO!!!

5 Years ago today I had my lil' Jo Lee Innes. She weighed 7 lbs and was 21 inches long (all though we feel that was off as she was 22.5 when we brought her home) and she had no hair.
In delivery I was so doped on drugs. It was great and just a beautiful thing to feel no pain. After being crowned for along time waiting for my doc to come, he came in surprised and joking that I wouldn't be coming in for that stress test in a few days. I laughed and out she came. It was a great time!  However I was also soo doped up that I didn't realize that she wasn't crying when she arrived which  meant she wasn't breathing. Jo had the cord wrapped around her neck and body soo tight that the doctor couldn't even get his finger under it to cut it so he had to just snip it and hope he didn't get her skin. ANYWAY.. Thanks goodness to the UVRMC NICU  team they work hard and soon out cute lil JO was crying and screaming and still is today! :)

Funny Story About Jo

I was playing "Barbies" with Jo the other night. It was a fun time! I was the boy and she the girl. Her girl also had 2 sisters, a baby sister and a mom. Well as time went on the mom got sick and died. I asked Jo how this could happen.

She came up with this.. "well I told her to take her medicine, and she said that she didn't need to because she was feeling better, but I told her she had to take it all gone or she would get sick again and she wouldn't so she died and NOW I am the boss!" CHUCKLE .. :)

We talked about how this wasn't nice but it was kinda funny!!  She is having a hard time realizing and being told she is not the boss. She is smart lil cookie and says well then when I am older I will be the boss!"

* What she likes to do right now. Play barbies. ponies, read book, play her Wii princess game, watch too much TV, teach Ryker his letters, numbers and build legos with her daddy!

She has one creative imagination! We love to hear her playing barbies, reading a story, singing a song, creating with Play-Doh, drawing and so forth.

She is super tall for her age but it growing in  all ways more and more each day. We love her and we'll keep her..... most days! Happy 5th Birthday Princess JO!

This should make someone laugh... I know I did!

You are on the bus when you suddenly realize ... you need to fart.
The music is really loud, so you time your farts with the beat.  After
a couple of songs, you start to feel better as you approach your stop.
As you are leaving the bus, people are really staring you down, and
that's when you realize, you have been listening to your ipod.

Thanks Stacee you made my day!

Hey what's goin on?

Warning!.....BEFORE YOU BEGIN Please know this is a VERY LONG POST....I am not trying to write a novel but this IS MY journal  so don't say I didn't warn you!

Well, the snow is melting (some), the tree is down, extended family has gone home and Jim is back to work... this must mean Christmas break is over and soon I will be back to work too. :(

What a GREAT Christmas break we had. We had some good times with family and friends staying up till wee hours of the night playing games, talking and just being together. Here is some of the things we got to do in December and already this year!

I got to go to Jo's school Christmas party. It was so neat to see her interacting with the kids and being polite. The kids decorated sugar cookies, played pin the carrot nose on Frosty and ring-toss. They made candy cane reindeer (well the at least put their antlers on) and colored some pictures. It was a good time! Then we all went to the gym to sing songs with the school. Jo was soo excited because Santa came and he stayed ALONG time. He talked about bullying and how it wasn't nice. He also talked about doing things for others to make others feel good. JO loved him as you may remember she missed seeing Santa on that great and horrible day so I was glad she got to see him.

We wanted to show our kids that Christmas wasn't all about them- so we picked an angel of the UCCU tree. It was neat to see how excited Jo was to pick things that a little boy named Ricardo wanted and needed. Next year she wants to pick a boy AND a girl... or at least a girl. HEHE! I can only imagine what she wants to buy... yeah you guessed it BARBIES and ponies!

Jim and I had a great time at the Neil Diamond Concert on the 19th. We went to the Red Iguana a delicious Mexican place before, It was sooo good really you have to go there! The weather was awful but it was still soo much fun! The warm food hit the spot!

Because we read out tickets wrong we ended up at the ESC 2 hours early. We decided to stroll the gateway and that led to light show at the Hansen Planetarium. We got to have our own private showing about the stars, black holes, and all sorts of cool stuff... and YES Jim walked out wanting a new toy, a telescope.... oh they are only $300+... he always chooses the $$$ hobbies!! He is such a big kid I LOVE IT!
The concert was good times. WE both love Neil and "Forever in Blue Jeans" is our song. Neil puts on a great show and the crowd was wild. I was really tired and it was hot so I must say I didn't jam out as I usually do... but it was still awesome and now checked off my "dream concerts" list. On to Bette Midler $$$$...someday.

We decorated gingerbread houses while Ryker went to sleep. It was funny because Jo wanted to copy everything her dad or I did on our houses. It was fun times and we just used stuff around the house and year old candy.
Jims work party was at GOODWOOD another great restaurant. It was on the night of our "lucky day" so it was hard for me to keep my composure but I managed. His work parties are fun because of all the different co workers he has. There were some great conversations!!

Of course we had to take some family pictures. Do you think we have changed much from last year. It's ALWAYS a hard thing to do but we all matched one Sunday and so we went for it.

LAST YEAR

Christmas shopping is always fun to me. We made some homemade gifts this year but a most were purchased do to lack of time, weather and extremely hot deals. We love AMAZON!!!
Shelby our cousin slept over Christmas Eve EVE and the next day helped us immensely to get ready for the big day. She played with the kids, helped JO paint snowman kits, helped JO clean her room and so forth. WE love the Humes girls!!

Christmas Eve a party at mom Herberts house. Always good family, food and fun!!! Then on to the Innes' to watch Mr. Magoo and sing along. This is a tradition that at first I thought... OK.. wierd... but now to see the whole family get together and belt out the songs is just so much fun! I can't imagine Christmas Eve without it and JO is STILL singing the songs. :)

After the kids were all snuggled asleep in bed Jim and I were up till 3 wrapping and getting ready. It was so fun to see all the stuff however we ended up saving some for birthdays, kids just don't need all that stuff! Next year we vow to have everything done the week before!

CHRISTMAS morning of course was very memorable! Jo and Ryker were sooo excited to open their gifts however they didn't wake up till 9 WAHOO! As a child this was normal to me as mom and dad wouldn't let us go get them till about that time too. WE also have to take turns which made Christmas morning really last. We always had friends calling while we were still unwrapping.

Jo and Ryker were very good about taking turns. JO was sweet enough to make sure mom and dad got a turn too. We have caught on tape their excitement but have yet to get a movie to upload to this blog. It's soo fun to watch them together we just laugh!

*Jo reminds me of me soo much, as a child, I was loud obnoxious and way tooo excited for Christmas too but oh it was fun!

After exchanging gifts at GMa Herberts we headed to the Innes' for the a gift exchange and the traditional LASAGNA dinner! SOO Delicious! IT was fun, we had some extended family there making about 30 people but it was fun. I know some of you are thinking Lasagna what? Yeah I thought that too when I married into the family but we are Italian and that is what mom always did. It is really a nice change and it's all homemade and sooo good! Thanks MOM and Aunt Donna!
What a day!!! We are so thankful for everything that we received and all the memories!

A few days later we went to Goshen to have Christmas with Grandma Grandpa Herbert, Great to Jo and Ryker and Aunt Dana. Dana was ill but came out just to see us, so sweet of her. It is so fun to be in their house. They have some really really old toys that the kids, including JIM, like to play with. It was fun to see them just play and talk.
The gifts were creative, blankets, cookbooks with my Aunt Dana being published in, decorate your own mug, and homemade crayons. The crayons shaped as semi-trucks were my favorite for the kids, so inventive.

Jo is so sweet, she insists that her Great Grandpa look at her crazy tater head. He (being blind since my dad was 13) does and she smiles. She is so innocent. We had some great times and it was good to be with them. They are getting old, and their health isn't the best, so I am so grateful my kids have them around.

On the 30th we went to the helicopter field with Jim. It was fun to see the kids riding bikes. JO was trying out her new bike that her DAD got her for Christmas. It was a nice warm day.
On

New Years the night we spent at the Innes' playing games and stuffing our faces. It was great times! They get so into games and puzzles that is a crazy competition! :) Ross said his news years resolution was to "win the game" heheeh soo silly!

I also stopped by a friend party with Ang. It was good to see some old highschool friends. WE played some fun games and just hung out. WE have to do it again sometime!

News Year Day GPa and Gma Innes took the kids ice skating. I hurt my wrist during a new crazy workout Jim and I started and Jim can't iceskate so we just hung out and it was a good time relaxing and enjoying each others company. We got some projects done, work done and I took a nap.

Then that night back to GMa Innes for a turkey dinner, and more Settlers of Catan, the new favorite game, some Guitar Hero Battling on the Wii, and some pictionary. Good times! This was the last night we were able to be with Matt, Amber and Ana and Rich, Crystal and Baby D. We have an awesome family and it was great to be with them.. here is to summer!!

01-02-09.. Happy Anniversary to US!!! 6 years and more in LOVE than ever. My parents took the kids that night so we could go out. We went to Bedtime Stories, Tepanyaki, Walmart and home. It was a nice night THANKS MOM AND DAD!!! Then the next day we tried to go to the temple but Provo was closed and Timp was packed!! I tell you it's like WWIII to get to the temple for us as maybe some of you.
Wedding Day 01-02-03 Honeymoon in Hawaii!!

What a holiday break.. and it was just that!

Some real highlights**

*Jim and I started the p90X workout! It's crazy hard but fun! We started putting the kids down at 9 ish so we could work out. Its an hour workout everynight, lots of different kids, kenpo, yoga, lifting, plyometrics AKA jumping.. it's been fun we are on day 30! I hurt my wrist but it's getting better. The only prob with working out night is we are too awake to go to bed thus many nights have been up past 3.. silly us!

*Ryker shoved a jelly belly up his nose.. Pretty Funny! Jim was a little worried, I was just laughing. We pinched it out and all is well but wow that was funny.

Ryker tried to vacuume Jos hair with our swivvel sweeper, we got most of it out but here is along piece that didn't make it.

*SNOW.. Jo and Jim built a snowman out front. They had a good time. WE put a Pearl Jam hat on it from a concert I went to in highschool. WELL a few days later someone knocked his head off and stole the hat... oh the nerve! Silly Kids!

*I got called to YW in my ward. I am the Mia Maids Advisor which is the 14-15 year olds a really hard age. I think it will be great however if you recall Jim is also in YM. Soo.. what to do with the kids on mutual night? Yeah I know.. so I asked the bishopric before excepting the call.. he said we talked about this and family comes first. If you can't make it then oh well. That was reassuring.

*I got a new calling.... but... haven't been released from the Primary Choirster so I am still doing it. I love this calling and am sad to go, especially bc I love the songs this year. However.. it will be good to move on and get reacquainted with other women in the ward.

*** Now since I started this post much has happened at home and work.

Jim and I had 2 friends pass on last week, both young and in their prime. The funerals were very sweet and gave some closure and it makes us VERY grateful for the Plan of Salvation and eternal families.

The Innes G'Prnts were so good to take the kids sledding while we went to pay our respect to Jon.

I held bunco at my house. It was a great time!!! I had good food, cheesy veggies soup, bake a potato bar, salad, wheat rolls and cupcakes and ice cream for dessert! Thanks to Jim... fixing my prize mistake at the last minute, the prizes were good too all baking theme. My mom got 7 natural buncos that is awesome if you've never played this dice chance game.
What a way to start off another year of bunco with a great group!!!

My mom Joy celebrated her 54th birthday. It was a good time yummy prime rib dinner, cooked by DAD soo yummy, gifts, Wii cards and more! We love you Mom!

We have enjoyed some time in the snow sledding, building snow caves and more!

Now as I head back to work, I am sad to not be home all day with the kids. I have got so much more done, been able to keep on top of my house and cook dinner.  However I love my job! I am excited to get my 4-H Program running again and for the short daily 3-4 hour break.

Over this long vacation I have managed to organize my scrapbook paper and room and the kids closets some, decorate my house some, makes some decorations for the house, play lots of Candyland with the kids, clean my carpets.. well Jim did that, Thanks honey I love you!..eat lots of junk but exercised to burn it off, do some puzzles  and play Wii with the kids, go on a few dates with Jim and have had ALOT of family time. It's been sooo great!

"We lost our good friend JonJuan this week. He was a wonderful friend and man. We are so glad that he was able to be sealed to his sweetheart Dawn before his passing - she brought so much joy to his life. I will always have fond memories of "throwing the rock" (bowling) with Jon and his rocker pose after a strike. We will also miss his humor and gentle heart. Thanks for all the good memories Jon.

I have posted his obituary below."

LUCKY!!! (warning super long post but has to be journaled)

Yesterday  I was very lucky!  No I didn't win the lottery, bunco, or even hit all the red lights on Center Street. I was lucky, mostly VERY blessed because I got to say goodnight to my little Jo Thursday evening.

You see we had quite a scare Thursday afternoon. I took her to preschool, running a little late due to the snow, and told her to run into class because she was going to miss the visit to Santas village. Well she ran up, stopping to wave several times, went into the door area, there is a wall blocking my view completely, came back out, and waved again and I said "go go." (She does this all the time walk.. stop.. wave.. walk..._)

So she was at school and Ryker and I went on to do our normal stuff, we thought. We went to the bank, came home shoveled snow, and went to get my hair trimmed. While getting my hair styled, I had a phone call on my cell. I didn't recognize the number so I sent it to voicemail. After getting into my car I sat to listen to the message and it goes something like this.

"This is the principal from Orem Elementary and we have something to tell you. Today when you dropped Jo off at preschool, the doors were locked, we don't know why but they were. So after trying the doors, Jo started walking home. A family found her at 400 S and Main and took her in called the cops and she is now back at school!" (Okay at this point I am bawling hysterically in my car.) I listen to the rest of the message about how Jo just thought school was closed, I drove off and she just thought to walk home.  Now we live about 11 blocks east and 4 blocks west of her school and on the other side of State Street. I know she would have never made it home, although she was headed in the right direction.  Then the tears really came.

The great principal went on to say that he took her in his office and they had  a chat about this and he walked her around the school and showed her all the doors to try and how to never walk home and how she was soo lucky that good people found her.  WHAT a scary moment!

So I drove home, called the principal and we talked. He said she was fine, and I called into class to check on her.  She was fine, but boy was I not. I was feeling so guilty that she had come running after me and I just drove off.  I was thinking about all the bad case scenarios and what ifs?  I called my mom -who happened to answer her cellphone-  and  just cried and she helped me calm down. I tried to get ahold of Jim for 2 hours, but he was working away from his phone and desk. It was a BAD DAY!!!

I am soo grateful that this story ended good. I love my JO and I wouldn't know what to do without her. She is my mini me, my copy cat, my only girl...right now and I love her. I finally got ahold of Jim, and bawled hysterically to him. Thirty minutes later, since he was more calm, he picked her up from school.

When she arrived home I was waiting. I ran to her, hugged her, didn't let go and talked to her. I asked her why she didnt' come running after me, she said she did so then I started to cry again. But remembering I had stopped to scrap my windows and was there awhile I asked again about her running after me she said she didn't and she  didn't say anything either. So it appears that... last time she came back out from the doors and she was waving and I said "jo  go"; that was her plea for help. It was not for me to go but to stop. We have had a long talk about how that was not a panic call and  how she needed to run and scream MOOOOOOMMM!!! It was a very long talk.

WE talked about stranger danger. We talked about how she was soo lucky that someone nice found her, as she was trying to walk home. WE talked about how she was brave but how it wasn't a smart choice to try to walk home. We showed her how far in the car today and showed her STATE STREET and how scary it is to cross. What an emotional time it was for both of us. She cried I cried, we talked cried some more and so forth.

I asked about her story, She said after trying the doors, she didn't think to go in the blue ones, the main, she just knew she had to get home. She told me she was cold and and scared but she watched for cars and walked about 6-8  blocks on the sidewalk. She talked about how her shoes and socks were wet and she put her hands in and out of her pockets. NOW here I am picturing this and tears just come to my eyes. AGAIN and then to hers.

She went on to say then a nice dad was outside shoveling snow and she was walking in her PJS and coat, if that doesn't make it worse (it was PJ day at school) and crying. He asked her if she was lost, she said yes. He invited her in and let her talk to his wife and watch TV while they called the cops and then they, not the cops, took her back to school with the cop following.

I am so grateful that they were good honest people, who didn't take or hurt my JO. I am so grateful that they could understand her as she has a speech delay. I am so blessed that she was able to tell them where she came from and what had happened and they were able to contact the right school. I am so glad that last night as I was driving to Lehi in the snowstorm that I wasn't out searching for JO. I am so grateful that the Lord is looking out for me and that his hand is in my life.

I can't drive down that street without crying yet. I can't sleep because I have bad dreams of her running after me and me not stopping, her getting hit by a car  worse things. It's awful, really. Now I know this happens to alot of people and almost every parent loses their kid or something but I still just get so shook up about this. I seriously might need therapy.

I woke up this morning, went to her bed, she wasn't there and the fear came again. She was downstairs playing with the nativity scene quiet as a mouse. I again ran up to her hugged her and said " JO I couldn't find you, you scared me!"She said, "mom I am not gone I am right here." AND I am sooo glad.

She didn't want to go to school today b/c she was worried that they would lock her out and that I would leave her. She gets choked up at this part of her story every time.  I assured her that the teachers have promised to check the doors everyday and that it won't happen again. (and I gues the teachers witnessed the janitor who was suppose to unlock the door, get an Earful today:( ) JO added about the doors, and if they are locked I won't walk home I will go in the blue doors.

I am so happy she has learned her lesson and we did make it to school today. Thank goodness it was a Christmas party that I was in charge of so I was going with her. She was ok about that. WE had a great time in her class decorating cookies, making crafts, playing games and all sorts Now we are on Christmas break so we have 2.5 weeks to heal from the trauma. I am sure Jo is way more over it that I will ever be and that is good as one of us has to have it together it's Christmas for heck sake!

Now on with the FUN!!

That is crazy we paid 1.34 a gallon with our 15cents off coupon!! YEAH that was fun! We love you Smiths!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

We decorated our family tree last Saturday and then this Monday night, for Family night, we decorated the kids tree. Here are some pics of Jo and Rykers tree. They insist we turn the lights on every morning. Ryker is really in love with holiday lights and he is so much fun. He calls them"wites" and has to go outside to see our house lights everynight. He is now learning his colors and is soo proud. He tells you the colors of the lights. Also the first thing he asks for in the morning or when he goes to the grandparents house it to... "Cuwa" he says.

On Friday night we went up to see the trees at the festival Jo, Jim, Cuz Shelbey, and I. We left Ryker with Grandma/pa Herberts because of 2 fears; 1- he would get restless to soon and 2-he would break something. There were too many people there so it wasn't as joyable as the set up day. As of 9:30 last night my 4-H kids tree hadn't sold. I was sad but life goes on. I feel it's priced a little high and I didn't put enough stuff to go with it under it but oh well. All trees that don't sell are still donated to charity so it's still serving someone. There were some incredible trees there glass ones, wood ones and my favorite one all decorate in PEZ dispensers! The kids loved to search out their favorite pez head characters. I learned ALOT for next year. Especially to go in the day time and not the night before closing night. Here is my candyland tree these pics just don't do it justice.

WHERE HAVE WE BEEN?

OK so I know I haven't posted since Halloween and that is pretty sad however life has been BUSY!  We are happy and healthy and all is well. What we been up to? Well mostly work and play, either on the house, at our jobs or with family!

I have been organizing  my 4-H Afterschool Programs service project. We are donating a decorated Christmas tree to the Festival of Trees.  The tree and wreath is
  imgres.jpg
themed and it has been lots of work, but fun. Here are some pics of the kid at school working on making candy garland, trains, gumdrop bulbs, gingerbread people and more! TOMORROW is the big day that I get to go take it up to the festival and spend hours decorating it. Jim is coming with me and I am soo glad. He is so supportive of my job and the extras that come with it! I will post pics of the final pics later. If you haven't heard of the Festival of Trees it is an awesome expo where ALL proceeds go to the Primary Childrens Hospital. There are tons of trees all sizes, gingerbread houses, boutiques and candy shops to browse, buy and just enjoy. Here is the website if you are interested in a good family outing...   www.festivaloftreesutah.com

I also had one of the parent nights for my cooking club. We had more than expected show up. I bet we fed at least 40 people. The cooking club kids did a great job making chicken tortilla soup, queso, salad, banana split brownie sundae! It was neat to see so much support for these kids and to see actual conversation going on between them and their parents. I LOVE MY JOB!!

This past week has been so busy. On Tuesday night after getting home from service project day, making  for along day at work, my mom called with 2 free tickets to "A Christmas Carol" at the HALE CENTER THEATER.

christmasCarolPhoto.jpg

Jim and I took her up on that offer and the offer to take the kids for the night. We made a date out of it starting off with yummy Cafe Rio!!!!

The play was good really got me in the mood for Christmas. I highly recommend it!
We topped our  night off with some yummy ice cream and the newest CHUCK episode!

Our turkeys!! We had to disguise them so they wouldn't get cooked for Thanksgiving. This was our singing time activity for Primary last week! JO has played with them numerous times since and the kids in primary loved it, both ages!

Gwampa coloring with the kids. This is Rykers new FAVORITE thing. He knows all his colors and is so proud. This is the 1st thing he asked to do when he wakes up even!

Thursday was turkey day and it was delicious! WE ate dinner at the Innes.  It's always fun to eat special meals there, mom gets out her gorgeous china and goblets, lets us toast to the occasion and we always have meaningful conversations. Thanksgiving time is all about family to me! I love being with family.
After Jim, Mom, Ross, and Ang all played the new "The Office"  DVD game while I searched the ads.
who do you think won?

(Jim got the kids these cute matching shirts)

After the fun we went to the Herberts for pie and more ad looking. We scoped out our deals, grabbed a cousin to spend the night, had some more pie and BBQ turkey and headed home.

FRIDAY we went out shopping at 7:30AM. I tried to do 5 but wasn't feeling so hot. I was grateful that Jim went with me this year. It was much more fun! He found some great deals, doorbusters in return carts, randomly stashed items that we wanted and did it all with a smile! I love Black Friday!!! I love to shop in the crowds call me crazy but it is just fun. However we got alot on our list done, now what do I do when I get off work soon? hmmm home projects! :)

Saturday we took our kids to the mall to walk around BaD IdEA no not really. It was soo packed but still a good getaway and some good exercise! That night Ma and Pa Innes took our kids, even on his birthday grandpas Jim was so willling, and Jim and I went to the new Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" I liked it but  I like Bond. Afterwards we did MORE shopping just can't spend enough money I guess.

Today is Sunday and it's a good day. We just celebrated Grandpas 59th Bday with a great dinner and cake. JO helped make his card and we had some laughs. The cake was delicious even if some of it had some wax on it from all 59 candles takin so long to lite. heheeh!! really some were burned all the way down to the cake!

WE love our grandpa Jim! He is so awesome! What a great example he is to our little family. He always shows us what's important. He holds and honors his priesthood and chooses the right! He takes care of his family, is healthy and fun we couldn't ask for a better one!
