Hey..... what's goin on???

Well besides being busy as always we have added some extra stuff to our plates lately. I have to shout out to my awesome hubby Jim. He has been working so hard that last few weeks on different home projects giving up a lot of play time and personal time. Thanks babe Love Ya!

A NEW WALL!!!

 Just before the Womens Conference I had some training at UVU. I came home Friday to a new wall being put up in my basement. Jim and I decided it was time for me to have my own place to do crafts, scrapbook and for the toys to be stored. So I came home to a framed wall. Then on Sat. I came home to a complete wall with drywall up and all mudded. After realizing that Jim and the kids weren't home, they were enjoying a day with daddy flying, it dawned on me. Mom and Dad Herbert had come and done it! We called the the sheetrock fairies! Thanks for visiting mom and dad we really appreciate all you do!

 GENERAL WOMEN CONFERENCE

Womens Conference was great! I got to attend it live at the Conference center and brought along Lyndi. It was a nice uplifting and spiritual event for me. Something that doesn't happen much at church, due to fighting kids, hungry kids, loud kids... did I mention KIDS! heheh I love them though, wouldn't trade them for the world!
At the conference, the thing I remember the most is something like, "Don't let the fear of failure discourage you!" I liked that!  We women are so hard on ourselves and it is all because we are scared to do something wrong but doing wrong making mistakes isn't that how we learn and grow? One of my mottos in life is "Exhaustion is NOT a prerequisite to exaltation ."  This is soo true. It is not a bad thing and we are not bad people if we can't do it all..
It was also fun to see our college roomie and friend Brooke in the choir. What a beautiful job they did and what an incredible spirit was present.
After being stuck in a parking garage for 30 mins,  Lyndi and I went to dinner are The Olive Garden. It was a nice night out! Thanks Lyndi for coming and Jim for being a supportive hubby!

THE NEW SHED

The following week we had to get our shed up because of the weather. We have had it since June but just haven't had the time or money to get it up. Well, Jim took off work on the Friday which included waking me up earlier than I am used to to assist. It was a BIG project bigger than we thought however it all went well. Days before we had prepared the ground and Dad H. and Jim had built a nice wood platform for it to set on. So now was have a nice BIG shed out back, a place to store STUFF,  and lots of people to thank for helping us get it done in time for the snow! THANKS Jim Dad and Dan for the hard work, Mom and Cort for helping with the kids, and Brother Troyna for borrowing us your ladder!

GENERAL CONFERENCE

So Conference was very awesome I hope you agree! It was nice to curl up in a warm blanket and sit with Jim to take it all in.  I got much out of it: Find Joy in the Journey, how do deal with sorrow, learning to live within my means and appreciate what I have. plus much more!!

PRIESTHOOD SESSION

For the priesthood session, Jim went to dinner and the session with his Dad. This is a tradition and Jim loves it. I am glad he wants to go and I don't have to make him or guilt him. :) He always comes home happy he went and fills me in on the details. I am so grateful he honors his priesthood. He is in the young mens now, 2nd Counselor over the 12 yr olds! :) with the calling comes Asst. scout master. It has been quite an adjustment but he is doing well. Last week they earned their ice skating badge, of course Jim just watched he can't skate : }

While at the session my mom came over spontaneously, to paint my new wall. It was a quick job, but well done.  Now we are in the process of getting the 2 rooms back together, organized and functional. A big job, but it needs to be done! I will post pics later.

That is what we are up too! Life is busy we are trying to make Halloween costumes, prepares for a Halloween Community celebration, getting ready for a girls and kids trip with Lyndi to ST G, getting ready for the Primary program, working, eating, serving and enjoying it all! Well we at least TRY to keep a smile on our face! :)

I know I haven't posted pics yet.. this weekend promise

So the other day Jo said something so fitting...

We were discussing something and I said "good job you were right JO"
SHe said, "THANKS I love it when I am right!" this isn't a one time occurrence either...  I guess it's like the old saying goes, Like mother like daughter :) or any other woman in the world hehe :)

Ryker is getting to be very entertaining lately. He is funny and cute or "tooute" as he would say it. NO more dress up just other stuff like glasses, shoes, hats. He likes to count to 1.. 2.. and other stuff. He is very motherly with his babies and loves other babies.

Things have been go! go! go!

I haven't posted in awhile.  Some updates.... I know this is long, but it's my journal so sorry just read the *sentences and you will get the jist of it!

*Saturday night Jim & I went on a real date no kids!
Ma and Pa Innes watched our kids THANKS!! We went to "La Vigna" in Lehi. Truly it wasn't very good. The marinara sauce they use is a bit too tomatoeee for me and my spinach alfredo sauce was kinda of lumpyish. The lasagna wasn't even close to G'Ma Innes'. It was about $50 to eat there and I just didn't think it was worth the price. I dunno maybe we got a bad chef. Afterwards we went shopping, yes shopping, Jim said I got to pick. We went to Ross to look for wedding attire and they had to push us out the doors at closing time. What a great date!!

*Monday Jo had to go to the dentist again, :( Last time though.
It wasn't such a happy occasion this time as she had to have a baby root canal. I could hear her screaming from the waiting room so I went back to comfort her. It was sad. She did really good, and once she was out of the chair and got her new toy she was good. Then we went up to South Towne mall to find clothes for the wedding. I hate malls and thats that!

*Tuesday night I went out with my sister Cortney and sister in-law Stacee, and some friends for a night out with Cort. It was kind of a pre-wedding celebration.
It was a surprise and we had a great time!  It was my first time, and I will go back. It was worth every penny. If you haven't had a pedicure before let me tell you it was heaven. I got to sit in a massage chair, soak my feet and just enjoy myself and the company. It was kind of odd that they had COPS on TV.  It kind of took away from the serenity of it all but oh well. It was so fun. I had a great time, I got cute red toenails with flowers on them and cute little green foamy flip flops to wear and then we went to Cafe Rio for dinner. YUMMY! Love that place!!! To top it all off we played cards with Stacee, Digger, Cort and Dan at Diggers house. I love my family!!! PICS TO COME...

*My 4-H Afterschool Clubs started at school so work is in full swing.
I have 10 clubs a week all with 15- 20 kids in them.  I get to entertain and treat them to a snack for 30 mins after school and then they go to club. So this week was going great till Thursday when I had the soccer club for the first time.
WARNING RANT AND RAVE!!!  The soccer club is predominantly hispanic boys who are really really good at soccer. However, on the other hand they were really disrespectful too. I had to stop them from talking several times and it was all in Spanish too, them not me so then it was really bugging. So I shouted something I shouldn't have. I told them to "sit down, shut your mouths and listen to me, if you don't understand my English deal with it, be quiet and I will have someone translate afterwards!" Is that mean and prejudice of me? After wards I thought so, to assume they can't speak English; but really come on I just needed 10 mins. Then when we dismissed to clubs they started bouncing their soccer balls, wouldn't do the American Pledge or the 4-H one.. GRRRRR...

*On another note, they are really fun kids, very energetic and very funny now if I can just get them to learn some respect that would be great. So work was a rollercoaster but I enjoy being there, watchings kids learn to  make jewelry, cook, sign, dance, stomp, play soccer, yoga, run....I have an awesome job!!

*NEXT that night I rushed home and Jim and I got everyone ready to go to Cortneys Wedding.
I wasn't feeling well but we manage to get to the wedding on time and "looking good." PICS TO COME.
It was a very quiet, small and peaceful ceremony, except Ryker talking about trucks that whole time to my Dad. It was a beautiful wedding in all and both Cortney and Dan were glowing with happiness.
Ryker was jumping literally everywhere, he even rubbed his head on the pavement laughing, what a weirdo? He was soo hyped! I was out of energy by the end of the night. He isn't my quiet little lax boy anymore. We then had a scrumptious dinner, cut the cake and a little dance and came home. It was a nice evening. CONGRATS CORT & DAN we love you!

*Dan and Jim are a lot alike. He is sort of a nerd, ehheh so he gets all of Jims silly jokes, woot shirts, and likes old school music. He loves to play darts and football as does Jim. He is a really good guy and We love him!

Well thats that.. and a bag of chips! Have a great week everyone!

Cinderella and School pics!

 This is Jo on School Picture Day, Wed the 10th. I dislike studio pictures, especially school ones in particular, so we only purchased the class picture. We hope to book Angela soon for a family picture day and I am positive she will take some really good shots. But just for kicks, I had to take some  of our own out in the backyard. t Isn't she a goon? She just always has to pose or make a funny face.

So when Jo went to the dentist last week she got a tiara and a wand. Well, here she is all dressed up in an adorable cinderella costume Grandma Innes gave to us. G'ma probably made it, but I dunno it's cute though. She wants to be Cinderella for Halloween and I am fine with that especially with this good costume. All we need is  a cute hairdo and glass slippers right?

Please notice how it's JO dressed up this time and not Ryker?

Tapioga, Firsts and More!!

The Friday before Labor Day, after Jos first week of school she was given a coupon for a free sherbet ice cream  from school. She showed it to everyone and was soo proud. I almost didn't want to redeem it so I could scrapbook it. hehehe

So we went to eat at Sonic Saturday night and Jo said "after we eat dinner can we go get my tapioga?" I thought, tapioca she hates that stuff, she calls it the yucky pudding with the dots.... So we asked again and she said "...tapiogi..." Jim and I were dumbfounded. "What is your tapiogi Jo?" She said, "You know... (like DUH) the card I got from school with the orange ice-cream on it!" Oh HOGI YOGI.. that was it! She wanted her free ice cream treat.  So after a night at Sonic, (where we think paid too little but they lost our receipt so we couldn't questioned it, Then they gave our food to someone else and then... forgot Jims burger(should have been free anyway)) we went to Hogi Yogi for Jo to redeem her class coupon. She had a lime sherbet and loved it. Jim and I had a coupon for a BOGO for the signatures so I got this candy bar crunch it was peanut butter cup, oreos, chocolate and something else YUM and Jim got this mint concoction. It was fun, cheap and it was a good night, memorable at the least.

TODAY JO went to the dentist for the first time!  I know I am a BAD mom as she is 4 almost 5. However my only defense is she was scared to even read a book about the dentist. I think she got that from me, but I love the dentist now however when I was little and it came to the dentist. They had to strap me down, glad they don't do that anymore, and even then the dentist said I was too scared and needed  a special dentist.
 So after I saw 2 cavities on Jos back molars (Its been hell or high water to get her to brush her teeth) we scheduled. She went to a dentist clear out in Saratoga Springs, because cousin Alyssha works there and gave her a pep talk about how 'cool' it was. Jo did so awesome!!! I was so proud of her. She just sat there and stared at DORA on the TV in the ceiling, listened to her headphones, and didn't even cry when they had to numb her. I was glad as I have been dreading this day. She had 2 little cavities and then Mon we have to go back to what could be a possible baby root canal... poor girl. :( BUT we are making progress as she got some fun stuff at the dentist, a tiara with wand, mirror, 2 new princess toothbrushes, a sand timer for brushing and paste and floss. She was soo excited " I didn't even cry!" she told Jim when we arrived home. Oh my little girl is growin up, and she ASKED to have her teeth brushed tonight!!!

So I got pulled aside by Miss PJ, at Preschool the other day.

I am thinking oh no, JO is fighting or being mean.... OH NO it was just the opposite, she is being tooo nice. It appears she has a boyfriend named Ashton in her class and he kissed her so she kissed him back.
The teacher said she just wanted me and the other mom to know that she has had to separate them a few times because they are getting tooo affectionate and for us not to be mad. MAD? I thought are YOU mad lady? Why would I be mad? What a bad and uncomfortable position for her and the other kids to be in. I was not mad, I laughed and said I would talk to JO. The other mom talked about how her son is just very loving and it is because of his younger sisters. I guess he is the oldest and is very "lovey dovey" she said. Jo is the oldest, and has Ryker for a younger bro and she is quite the mean little ____ with him. What happened there?

Kinda of funny though huh? I guess she is getting an early start, way tooo early though. We told her not to kiss anybody that isn't related to her. So she started to ramble off  everyone who she could give kisses to and it ended at that.

ME KISS BOYS ??? NO....

What a weekend!

This was the first Labor Day weekend that hasn't taken me somewhere. Usually we go camping, boating or even to Mesquite. Not this year it was the annual UHA Fun Fly in Lehi! Which meant spending time in good ole Lehi, my home. :)
Jim definitely labored all weekend long at his Fun Fly. It was a great time and a good turnout. They had some firsts this year. They donated some of their proceeds to B.A.C.A. so they were there and they had a live band called "Little Wasatch". They were a girl group that sang old soft rock and man the lead singer she could really sing it. It was cool and reminded me of the good old days.
Jim had more club members help this year so I was able to be there on and off and really didn' t have to help at all. It was hot and the bugs were really really bad. The kids and I spent the weekend nights at moms. Jo loved having a "sleepover" both nights. We also got to spend some time with Lyndi and her boys on Friday evening at moms and at the field Saturday. It was a good time. Jim got some good picture practice in,  got to actually fly some of the time, and he shut down and got out of there before the storm hit hard.
Yesterday we just kinda of hung out and enjoyed being home. We then went to lunch and some shopping with the kids. WE tried to go to a dollar movie but they were ALL sold out figures. All in all it was a good weekend. Now back to school and work!!!

"You don't get a kiss for that!"

In Primary last Sunday Jo's class, Sunbeams got to do sharing time on Repentance. They all got to pretend to make a bad choice and then the primary will tell them that is was bad with a thumbs down and then the sunbeam had to say sorry (repent) and then fix it or make a good choice.
THE KIDS LOVED IT!
So Jo was playing with her teacher and the teacher had a toy and Jo ripped it out of her hands and then laughed. (She didn't need any coaching on this one) It was really funny but kind of cute. Then she said sorry....yada yada

So since that day we have been focusing on making good choices. So far, now it's ony Thurs. but we have only had 2 bad choices made which are at bedtime or way past it. I am so excited that we may have found something that works for her.

SO she is funny... When we do something she likes she says "You get a kiss or that!" and plants one on us. It is soo cute well last night she was delaying bed time by stating to say she saw ghosts. I was like whatever I will show you a ghost so I started making the" oohh ooohh boo" sound. She said , MOM, You don't get a kiss for that!" SOO FUNNY

Wish us luck with our new discipline plan she is very "Strong willed" hehe! :)

Jo's First Day of School!!

Jo liked her first day of pre-school.  She loved recess and snack the best of course. She wanted to bring friends home with her. I am glad she liked it and adjusted well now on to day 2

She told me while going home that her teacher was like a boy. I was soo confused I said, "How, She has beautiful long hair?" She said "No mom her name is like a boy because it is PJ like BJ." Well what a smarty I thought. Then I told her that she shouldn't tell her sister she is a boy she said I won't mom I am only tell you.

Now on to pics! JO was sooo excited that I couldn't get her to sit still to take a decent pic. These just show the energy she has hehe. She is holding a cutout doll of her it was her homework from parent teacher night. We had to make the doll look just like her, we did our best and she drew on the face!

Her outfit, lets just say she picked it out. Jim said when he got home that she looked she was going to school in the old days heeh I still think she is cute though!

New Rooms, Callings and more!

~~~~Hello ALL!!!~~&~~Happy Back 2 School!!~~~~
UVU starts tomorrow so Jim, and of course my mom inlaw JoAnn, are crazy busy at work. WE both are not currently enrolled in school but since its a major goal and one of the reasons we quit cleaning, we are working on it.
Jo starts her first day of preschool today at 12:38, wierd time I know. She is soo excited for it but when asked about it she says "Yes, but I am NOT getting shots!"  We have warned her about her kindergarten shots and she thinks they are closer than they really are. I hope all goes well today at school for her, I know I am going to enjoy it! Her teachers name is Miss PJ (Patti JO) how cool is that?
WE have the annual Utah Helicopter Assoc. Fun Fly this weekend in Lehi Thursday-Sunday. Jim is in charge of some of it and so that is where we will be off and on. It is an exciting time, but also a stressful one. It takes a lot of work to get it all together but it all pays off in the end. This year B.A.C.A. is coming on Sat as they funfly is donated some of the proceeds to them. They are bringing a live band and a nice bike that they are doing a raffle for this year. I am excited I LOVE BIKES!
I start back to work in a week. I am really excited to get back to working with the youth of OJH. However,  we lost 58K in grant money last week and they have to pull the mentoring program out of all the middle schools. It kind of broke my heart because I have worked soooo hard getting mine going and I have really loved working with my youth this summer. What does this mean? Well instead of 30 hrs a week it will be 20. No more mandatory Family Night Outs or Mentor and Menteee Activities which means I am not going to be gone at night as much which is good. Which leads to time for church callings, family, and SCHOOL. But I am gonna miss those kids, I feel like I am abandoning them, however they WILL stay  in the program just will be under an Elementary school  site coordinator.
Speaking of youth, Jim got released from Sunday School President and is now the Deacons advisor and asst scout master in the Young Mens Program. He is excited but nervous at the same time. He has a  great group of boys in our ward but they are ACTIVE!
Oh a recap of Jims trip. IT WAS EXHAUSTING! When I picked him up at the airport he was tired and warn out. He said the whole experience was more work than fun by far but that is why he was paid to go right? He had a good time all in all.
Here are some of the highlights
*meeting the pros of the hobby
*seeing new helicopter gear that is being released this year
*meeting his magazine boss for the 1st time and getting along well
*watching all the flights especially night flying
*watching all the crashes, a few in mid-air
*seeing the BATMAN movie on an IMAX WOW! "Wanna see a magic trick?"
*hanging out with his friend Brent from here who says we bring RVs and our families next year
  I had fun at home with mom the kids and my sister. We painted the front room, Rykers room, tore down the old metal shed in the backyard, did some shopping, scrubbed some big rugs, and just enjoyed conversation and time together. It was a great time.
And last I been rearranging furniture, making Cort and Daniels invites and just enjoying my last few days of summer.
I will post pics soon promise.
While the daddy is away, the wife gets to play?
Well Jim left this morning for a dream job assignment. He is at IRCHA, in Indiana, which stands for International Remote Control Helicopter Assoc. I think? Anyway it is a huge event with competitions, giveaways, 700 pilots and 6-7 miles of runway. He didn't take his helis as he is on business but still he gets to be around all of them and the pros.
This week I watched the Lewis boys again this time it was Kayden and Derek who are 9 and 6. Then I had my kids. We had a good time playing GameCube, swimming and computer.
Today, well technically yesterday since it's after 12, I got to take some of my 4-H Kids to the Utah County Fair, it was an adventure but all in all a good time and their projects, wooden or ceramic frames, all got 1st place and/or made it to state. It's so exciting and a small cash award is given with each ribbon!
While Jim is gone I have some BIG projects on my list. One of them I just finished with my mom. We painted my front room upstairs. I will post pics when it's all dry and the furniture is put back. Other projects include dismantling an old shed, maybe building a wall in the basement, some sewing and scrapbooking, and more painting. WISH ME LUCK!
Soon the summer will be over and things will change. I will be back to working 30 hours a week, working everyday at Orem Jr with my 120 4-H kiddos. I am actually excited to get back and NOT be teaching or having to plan the weekly club.  Jo will be in preschool 4 days a week and she is estatic! We met her teacher tonight Miss PJ she was sweet. I hope to squeeze in a college course and Jim too so all in all our life will have less spare time. BUT no complaining here I  love my job, to learn new things, school. I have had a great summer and my family has not been neglected.
SO.. anyway...I better get to bed. I haven't been to bed B4 12 this last few nights as I have been loving watching the LIVE Olympics.. this night, although no Olympics, still is not any different.
GOOD NIGHT!
Summer is slipping away!
Hello All!
The other day Jo and Ryker got in the diaper and wipes boxes and played a while! I thought it was really cute. They played great until Jo stole Rykers box and then we had fits and tantrum, time out and tears, and then... 5 mins later there was laughter and love again! Ahh isn't life grat being a parent.  :)
The other night Jim and Jo played legos together. They made some castles and robots. It was really cute to see them play together and have some daddy daughter time.
This last Friday I went on a relief society retreat overnight with some ladies in the ward. We went to a cabin in Fruitland and really enjoyed ourselves. We crafted beaded bracelets, and book marks, ate lots a yummy food, got pampered with pedicures, foot rubs, eye masks, and facials and played some games. All the pampering stuff we made up there with food and it was soo fun. I am grateful to have good friends in the ward and I always seem to get to know more when I attend this awesome retreat.
SAt night we went to the Lewis Celebration Day in Salem. They blessed Brandon and they celebrated 3 birthdays Jolene, Kayden, and Derek.  It was a great BBQ and fun to get together with them. We used to do it monthly with dinner but life just go too busy.
Jim and Arlund Lewis went to Lehi High school together and they have a group a friends that remained in contact and get together. It was fun! I felt a little out of place as always but it was still fun. Jim and I jammed out on ROCKBAND  he on the guitar and I on vocals.. NOW THAT was FUN!  The were many kids so Ryker and Jo were just in heaven and all and all it was a good time!
